There’s three things I love in a skincare brand; efficacy, transparency and chocolate scented. Alpha H ticks two out of three of those which made me pretty bloody excited to test drive some of their best sellers. Facial Co (a fab online beauty store) graciously sent me some of Alpha H’s best pregnancy safe prods which I have spent the last month or so playing with.

Before we get into my results, let me explain who Alpha H are. Firstly, they are Australian. Which I LOVE. Beyond that they are a global hit, now stocked in 25 countries. Their point of difference is the ability to provide treatments with a scientific approach while combining the best of nature with the most potent cosmeceutical ingredients. You probably knew all this and more thanks to the outrageous success of their resurfacing queen, Liquid Gold.

Since we’re talking about Liquid Gold, let’s keep talking about it. I’ve tried Liquid Gold in the past with fab results but it was great to be able to try it in conjunction with other Alpha H products. Liquid Gold uses 5% Glycolic Acid to slough away dead skin without the irritation of a (shudder) manual exfoliant. Glycolic Acid along with Licorice Extract will help to brighten pesky pigmentation and uneven skin tone. Liquid Gold also claims to increase moisture levels, smooth fine lines and revitalize aging skin.
Liquid Gold is a fave in my books due to its blemish blasting abilities. I’ve found it to be one of the most effective treatments for hormonal acne and congestion. With regular use (every second night) I found it kept my skin smooth and killed breakouts without making them angrier. I also love that it’s pregnancy and breastfeeding safe as it is nigh on impossible to find effective acne treatments that are.

In the mornings I’ve been hydrating my skin with the Essential Hydration Cream. Alpha H says:

“An aromatic soothing cream formulated with Evening Primrose Oil, Ylang Ylang, Peppermint minerals and essential fatty acids. It brings immediate relief and comfort to parched and irritated skins. This non-Glycolic formula is ideal for broken capillaries, diffused redness and sensitivities.”

I was going to write a description but realised I couldn’t explain it better myself.

My first impression was ‘this guy defs has peppermint in it’. The scent is strong but it’s a calming, non offensive scent. It is a cream texture however is quite light so I can see oily skin gals still enjoying this cream. I have dry skin and did find myself layering an oil over the top most mornings as this wasn’t quite enough hydration for me. Alpha H also recommends adding a few drops of oil to the cream during winter. My skin did appreciate the calming nature of this moisturiser as my skin has been mysteriously red this winter. I think in summer when my skin is less dehydrated this would be spot on as a morning moisturiser for me.

Speaking of dry, moody af skin however, the Age Delay Cleansing Oil ticked all the boxes. This guy is actually more of a balm with lots of yummy oils like coconut, tangerine, grapeseed and sea buckthorn. It contains loads of antioxidants to combat free radicals and over 190(!!) nutrients that are essential to skin health and regeneration. I loved this as a morning and second cleanse (I don’t waste good ingredients on makeup removal) as it’s super gentle and soothing. This guy does emulsify when water is added so there isn’t technically a need to remove it with a cloth but y’all know how I feel about a cloth.

Okay this makes me look like a bad blogger but while writing this I just read on the Alpha H website that this can be used as a balm OVERNIGHT for intense nourishment. Okay. That sounds amazing. I will try and report back on Instagram (@glossco).

I am so impressed with what I’ve tried from Alpha H and it does entice me to try more of the range (maybe some retinols once this baby has emerged). You can find Alpha H on their website as well as at Facial Co.
