Just in time for Aussie winter, Clarins newest offering has hit shelves and our cold, shivering hands. Their new hydrating collection, Hydra-Essentiel, addresses water loss and free radical damage in a six piece collection.

Clarins obviously knows the way to a Melbournian’s heart. The Hydra-Essentiel range addresses changes in our skin thanks to changes in climate and environment. Our skin cops it when we go from a blistering cold weather to our heated houses, from humidity to dry air. Hydra-Essentiel targets this damage using the amazing Madagascan plant, leaf of life, that has the ability to retain moisture despite temperature changes.

I’ve been trying the Hydra-Essentiel range for over a month now, so how did it fare?

Well not only am I living Melbourne winter, but thanks to pregnancy everything about me is dry (except my humour, obvs). Hair, lips, skin- everything. So this launch could not have better timing.

Hydration serums are a must in my routine. Bi-Phase serum has a super light weight texture and virtually no scent. It is suitable for all skin types that are prone to dehydration and will protect the skin’s barrier, locking in moisture. I use two pumps of this and press it into the skin after my essence, morning and night. This disappears almost instantly thanks to its light weight consistency making it ideal for layering under active serums.

This luxe, silky cream is a daytime option for normal to dry skin. Silky cream assists your skin’s capacity to lock in water and fight free radicals. I love the feel of this cream. It leaves my skin feeling super bouncy and moisturised while working perfectly under makeup. I also found the silky cream helped reduce redness in my cheeks which I’m assuming is thanks to the anti pollution qualities.

The Hydra-Essentiel Lotion SPF15 is a daily moisturiser for normal to combination skin. I haven’t gotten a lot of use out of this yet as winter has me reaching more for the silky cream but come summer I think this will be ideal as a morning moisturiser. As the name suggests, it has a lotion consistency that allows it to be layer over the Bi-Phase serum even if you’re prone to some excess oil.

This is another option for combination skin that again I think I will get a lot more use out of in the warmer weather. However for oily gals, this is a great choice all year round. This blue gel feels as cooling as the name suggests upon application and absorbs leaving the skin feeling matte.

So that’s my thoughts on the Hydra-Essentiel range! What are you interested in trying from the range?
