I’m not sure about you, but currently every two days in my house the NBA playoffs monopolise my living room. It’s just me isn’t it. Well all the talk of MVPs, and other various basketball terminology that I couldn’t link to skincare, got me thinking about my skincare roster and who’s been at the top of their game for a few seasons. (I know you’re impressed with all these analogies). Sure Steph Curry is good but really, Drunk Elephant’s TLC serum is better. These are products that I have repurchased time and time again, will always be in my cabinet, can’t live without type of thing.

Let’s start with a clear standout; Drunk Elephant. I fell in love in 2016 when it hit Australian shores and it literally changed my skin. I tried DE a few months out from my wedding when my skin was throwing a tantrum befitting of a two year old in K-Mart and was the worst it had been in years. (I’ve written a detailed blog post about this as well as a post dedicated to DE.) Within THREE days of using TLC Glycolic Night Serum, my skin was practically clear of acne. I was getting asked countless times a day what skincare I used and complimented on my glowing complexion. I used the Lala Retro cream and the C-Firma serum but for me, TLC was the key player. I no longer use it every single night as my skin is now well behaved again and I alternate with exfoliating masks etc but I still won’t be without it.

Another gem I discovered in my quest for perfect skin before my wedding is Aspect’s Hydrating Mask. This is a luscious, rich overnight mask packed with antioxidants, retinol and hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid. The morning after I’ve used this guy my skin is so soft and plump and actually looks like I’ve had a facial. When I need my skin to be on it’s best behaviour for an event or something of the like, I use the Hydrating Mask as a night cream the entire week before. This is such a great option for sensitised skin; it’s one of the few products my skin will put up with when I’m having an eczema flare up.

In my books, Kate Somerville can do no wrong. She is not only an incredibly kind and wonderful human but creates some of the most effective cosmeceutical products on the market. While she is known for the incredibly successful ExfoliKate treatment, its the ExfoliKate cleanser that I can’t live without. The cleanser form has the same key ingredients minus the exfoliating beads and is a daily cleanser. So we’re talking lactic acid and pumpkin, pineapple and papaya enzymes to lightly exfoliate and clear build up. This is a sulphate free cleanser and instead uses coconut derived foaming agents to give you a gentle lather. I love how smooth my skin feels after using this yet not stripped or over exfoliated. I use this once a day in the shower and it’s one even my husband will get around.

The next one will come as no surprise and that is La Mer Treatment Lotion. If you’ve ever seen my Instagram feed, read my blog or had a casual conversation with me you would know this essence is like a third child to me (I have a human baby and a fur baby for those doing the math). It is a thicker consistency than other well known essences I’ve used which is part of what makes me prefer it. It feels like another layer of hydration whilst assisting my serums and moisturiser to absorb and perform better. Treatment Lotion contains La Mer’s signature Miracle Broth, hydrating ingredients such as sweet almond oil and loads of antioxidants. This is a great stepping stone into La Mer if you’ve been on the fence about trying the range.

Glam Glow Super Mud is an insanely hardcore mask. If your face is made of stone you might be able to handle it. However, it is a bloody amazing spot treatment. I always have the mini size of this on hand to treat any pimples/mountains that arise and it gives results overnight. I just dot it on generously as the last step of my routine at night and wash it off in the morning. My number one tip- if you’re only using it to spot treat, only by the mini size as the large size will dry out before you finish it.

Clinique’s Moisture Surge franchise is possibly one of the best lineups of all time. I owe my love for this line to Queen Caroline and I will forever be indebted to her. My two must haves from the Moisture Surge collection are the Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate and the Face Spray. The Face Spray is an oil free mist that is literally like liquid moisturiser. I use this in place of toner, over my moisturiser, over my makeup, through out the day, on my beauty blender, to do my taxes, you name it. It’s a mist that actually hydrates rather than being choc full of alcohol and sucking the life out of your skin. The Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate will most often be used as a hydrating serum but super oily skin might like it as a moisturiser. It’s a gel consistency packed with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid and provides long lasting hydration. Brilliant in the morning to get your skin makeup ready, amazing at night to replenish the skin’s hydration levels. Always good, all the time. This serum wins the hydration serum division for me because it’s not sticky. I’ve had it up to here with sticky hyaluronic serums.

What are your can’t live without products?
