Travel Skinssentials

Life wrecks havoc on our skin. Life in foreign places is worse. So let’s arm you with the best tools possible for your adventures so you return resembling the goddess you are right now.

All these prods I have personally found delightful whilst travelling, whether for their nifty size or all in one abilities.

Winners in the body and hair category are pictured in all their glory below.

Lipbalm- Your hands are always dirty when you travel. Always. Pick a lip balm with an applicator, not in a jar. Malin+Goetz Lip Moisturiser is particularly awesome because it protects your lips in harsh conditions. It is a non tacky gel formula and therefore your man friend might also be persuaded to use it. Go To Skincare’s Lips! is also a great choice. Not only for its stand up applicator but it’s high concentration of oils means it’s a winner for chapped, peeling lips.

Body- Kiehl’s Creme de Corps is a winner home and away. It is super nourishing and the best in the biz for those who sport a tan (fake or natural). It also comes in a convenient travel size bottle.

Hands- Find yourself a hand cream that doesn’t just smell like cupcakes. They usually do crap all. We are looking for something that will protect your hands against the heat and cold but will also absorb super quick. Enter Malin+Goetz Vitamin B5 Hand Treatment. Dry to touch and great even for sensitive skin.

Hair- Dry shampoo that isn’t in an aerosol. Bumble and Bumble Pret a Powder. Buy it.

Facial cleanser- Please please please buy a cleanser that will take off your makeup and is gentle enough for morning use. Face wipes are ONLY for on the plane. Because you are desperate. Korres 3 in 1 Cleansing Emulsion is a milk that will take off every bit of makeup including mascara and won’t dry your travel weathered skin.

Facial moisturiser-  Same concept as your hands; protective, nourishing, absorbs quickly. Pick something you can use day and night, ie no SPF! You’re slathering on a dedicated SPF every single day anyway. Right? La Roche Posay’s Toleriane is a perfect choice. It’s in a tube, it has a barrier function to protect your skin and absorbs to a velvet finish.

Facial treatment- This guy is a god send. Ren’s Beauty Shot. Two types of hyaluronic acid to give your skin a boost whenever you need it. Yes, you can apply this as many times a day as you like, even over makeup. Take this on the plane for rehydration.

Facial exfoliation- One word- disposable. I love nothing more than throwing things out while I’m travelling. Take individually wrapped exfoliating pads to eliminate bulk. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pads come in sachets so you can buy a big 60 pack and take a handful with you or pick up an itty bitty 5 pack. Genius!

And don’t forget to pack all these in zip lock bags in case of explosions.
